Conflict of Interest Declaration
Avoiding Presenter Conflicts of Interest
A conflict of interest occurs when a person is in a position to derive personal benefit from actions or decisions made in their official capacity. When one’s interests influence their judgment, decisions, or actions, a conflict of interest occurs and can undermine confidence in a sponsor, presenter, or profession. A conflict of interest could be defined as any social, professional, or economic relationship with individuals or a matter at hand that could affect judgment and result in an outcome.
Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions (RMUoHP) / The EMG Solutions Institute (TESI) and its instructors, guest presenters, sponsors, etc. (presenters) must make every effort at transparency and disclose any personal interest they may have in conflict with the program learning objectives. RMUoHP/TESI will make public any potential and actual conflicts of interest and financial gain associated with presenters. Sponsors will be identified in printed program materials, at a minimum.
Speakers must disclose any personal interest they may have in any business that would conflict with the goals or objectives of RMUoHP/TESI or the presentation. No registered, trademarked, or copyrighted material, products, or techniques will be used within the program, and any product-specific narrative must be eliminated. Speakers must announce a conflict of interest at the beginning of their presentation. Sponsors will be disclosed in printed program materials to identify any conflicting interests.
Presenter Disclaimer
In compliance with RMUoHP/TESI Continuing Education requirements, all presenters must disclose any financial or other associations with the manufacturers of commercial products, suppliers of commercial services, or commercial supporters, as well as the use of any unlabeled product(s) or product(s) under investigational use.
